3. Disconnectthe logcradlefromthe beamon the side

of the controlvalve.SeeFigure3-5.

4. Liftandslidethe cylinderupto the top of beamand

into theweld brackets.SeeFigure3-6.

5. Attachthe dislodgeroverthe wedgeassemblyand

securewith hardware,previouslyremoved,to the weld

brackets.

NOTE:Oncethe six hexscrewsaretightened,there

maybea slightgapbetweenthe dislodgerandthe weld

brackets.Thisgapis normal.

6. Reattachthe logcradleto the sideof the beamwith

the controlvalve,aligningthe ends of the cradlewith

the beamflanges.

7. Rolllogsplitteroff the bottomcrate.

Preparing the Log Splitter

Lubricatethe beamarea(wherethe splittingwedge

will slide)withengineoil; donot usegrease.

Removeventedreservoirdipstick,whichislocatedin

frontof the engineon topof the reservoirtank.See

Figure3-7.

IMPORTANT:The logsplittermayhavebeenshipped

and primedwithhydraulicfluid inthe reservoirtank.

However,you MUSTcheckthe fluid levelbeforeoperat-

ing. If notfilled,proceedwiththe followingsteps:

3. Fillthe reservoirtankwith hydraulicfluid includedwith

this unit(if equipped)orapprovedfluidswhichinclude

Dexron®III/ Mercon®IIIautomatictransmissionfluid,

a 10WeightAWhydraulicoil or Pro-MixTM AW-32

HydraulicOil.

4. Checkfluid levelusingthedipstick.SeeFigure3-7.Do

not overfill.

5. Replaceventeddipsticksecurely,tighteningit untilthe

top of the threadsareflushwithtopof the pipe.

6. Disconnectthe sparkplugandprimethe pumpby

pullingthe recoilstarteras far as it willgo. Repeat

approximately10times.

7. Reconnectthe sparkplugwire andstart engine

followinginstructionsin the OPERATIONsection.

8. Usecontrolhandleto engagethe wedgeto the

farthestextendedposition.Thenretractthe wedge.

9. Refilltankas specifiedonthe dipstick.

10.Extendandretractthe wedge12completecycles

to removetrappedair inthe system(the systemis

"self-bleeding").
