
ChuteDeflector
NOTE: Use the hardware in Group 5 to complete the following
steps.
1. Align the holes on the chute deflector with the
corresponding holes on the deck.
2. Secure with self-tapping screws and bell washers from
underside of the deck and up through the chute deflector.
See Fig. 3-8.

RecoilStarter
NOTE: Use the hardware in Group 6 to complete the following
steps.
1. Loosely attach the rope guide to the outside of the upper
handle and thread the wing nut only a few turns. See Fig.
3-9. Do not tighten.

2. Depress the blade control.
3. Pull the recoil starter out of the engine.
4. Slip the rope through the rope guide as shown in Fig. 3-9.
Tighten the wing nut to secure the rope guide.
Adjustments
CuttingHeight
j_lklb WARNING: Always stop engine, disconnect spark
plug, and ground against engine before performing
adjustments.
Each wheel has a height adjustment lever to change the cutting
height of the mower.
1. Depress the lever towards the wheel.
2. Slide the lever assembly to desired position to change the
cutting height. See Fig. 3-10.

3. Release lever towards deck.
IMPORTANT:All wheels must be placed in the same
position. For rough or uneven lawns, move the wheels to a
higher position to prevent scalping of grass.
Set-tip
Gasand 0il Fill-Up
Refer to the separate engine owner's manual for additional
engine information.
1. Add oil provided before starting unit for the first time out
of the box.
Service the engine with gasoline as instructed in the
separate engine owner's manual.
WARNING: Use extreme care when handling
gasoline. Gasoline is extremely flammable and the
vapors are explosive. Never fuel the machine
indoors or while the engine is hot or running.
Extinguish cigarettes, cigars, pipes and any other
sources of ignition.
